About Corlan Vineyard & Farm
8441 McFarlane Road
Corlan Vineyard is a 10-acre certified organic vineyard and winery where you can visit the tasting room, walk the vineyard and gardens (take a picnic and a glass of wine!), or purchase a bottle of To Ewe wine, plants and farm-fresh organic eggs. The farm includes Clun Forest sheep, a large flock of laying hens and a propagating greenhouse with nursery.
The word “Corlan” is a Welsh word meaning sheepfold. A corlan is a stone circle where the sheep in North Wales are brought for shearing and other attentions, as seen on the To Ewe Wine labels!
To Ewe Wines
To Ewe wines are made from Corlan Vineyard’s estate-grown certified 100% organic grapes. They advise enjoying all but the Blackberry within 36 hours of opening as they do not add sulphites during racking and bottling. (Taxes included in price).
Two Ewe wines are made in small batches for ultimate aging and mellowing (they only produce about 500 cases per year) and the Reds are aged in natural oak barrels for better mellowing.
Vegan. Some wineries use non-vegan filtering or clearing practices. Corlan Vineyard cold-stabilizes its white wines and uses racking as their clearing tool.
WHITE WINE – $18
- Sandy Island White: From the estate’s Ortega grapevines, a cross between Muller-Thurgau and Siegerrebe,to make a crisp, aromatic wine with citrus overtones, perfect for summer sipping. $18.
*Gold Medal Winner at 2020 International Biowine Prize in Germany. - Siegrebbe: An aromatic summer wine. The Vintner’s favourite! Limited quantities. $18.
RED WINE – $20
- Chrome Island Red: Made from organically grown Marechal Foch grapes, a French-American hybrid, this red grape ripens dependably in the Denman Island climate and produces an inky red wine aged in neutral barrels. $20.
*Gold Medal Winner at 2020 International Biowine Prize in Germany.
*Silver Medal Winner at 2019 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition in Rochester, New York.
ROSÉ WINE – $18
- Eagle Rock Rosé: A combination of our award winning Ortega and Leon Millot. Leon Millot is a sister grape to the Marechal Foch, but with a somewhat milder presence.
DESSERT WINE – $25
- Blackberry Dessert Wine: A combination of Corlan Vineyard’s own thornless and Denman wild blackberries achieves a high alcohol content with no fortification. It takes a year to finish fermenting, so is released in limited quantities.
*Silver Medal Winner at 2019 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition in Rochester, New York. - Raspberry Dessert Wine: Inspired and made by two of our employees, this wine is made from Cowichan Valley raspberries.
- Black & Blue Dessert Wine: Made with a mix of our blueberries and thornless blackberries.

About the Owners
Pat and Selwyn Jones began clearing their ten-acre property on Denman Island in 2006, planted 5,000 vines propagated from their own cuttings, and held the grand opening of Corlan Vineyard with their first batch of wine on Canada Day in 2015.
Selwyn, born in Wales, has a background in silviculture and owned Sylvan Vale Nursery in Black Creek for more than two decades propagating seedlings for forest companies. He took up viticulture in the early 1990s when he began propagating up to 20,000 vines a year for Cowichan Valley wineries.
Pat has spent most of her life on the Gulf Islands, growing up with small scale market gardening and poultry raising. She is also a talented Tartan weaver.
The couple previously built and operated a Bed and Breakfast together. They love to talk to visitors about their process from propagation to bottling. Future plans include a restaurant, accommodations for Farm Stays, and Corlan Vineyard as a wedding venue.
