The Denman Island Museum shares the history of early settlement of the land and marine area surrounding Denman Island, including First Nation artifacts, settler life, Island development, environment and geology.
Exhibits include historical artifacts, photos, and information about:
- Denman Island Boat Day
- Pioneer families
- First Nation tools, fishing implements, and petroglyphs
- The Hippie Peace movement
- Industries: Logging, Fishing, Shellfish, Farming, Quarry
- Fibre Art inspired by the Denman Island Museum
- Geology
- A new exhibit this year is the Denman Island Street Names history and the people behind them.
The Denman Island Museum is owned and operated by Denman Seniors and Museum Society and is run by the Museum Committee at the Denman Activity Centre at 1111 Northwest Road.
Documentary DVD available for purchase: $10.
In July and August, the resident volunteers welcome visitors:
Monday to Saturday from 1-4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.
Public Washroom available.
